MSF Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need based in Dagahaley and Mombasa.
MSF Switzerland is launching the recruitment process for the position of Hospital Director for the activities in Dagahaley.
Job Title: Hospital Director

Duration: 4 months contract (with initial 1 month probation period)
The selected candidate will be reporting to the Medical Team Leader.
Main Purpose |
• Defining, planning and organizing the setup, sizing and budget for the hospital in order to efficiently maintain the continuity of quality of healthcare, ensuring inter-departmental coordination with medical team managers and all hospital related activities. Coordinating and supervising, together with the medical services and team supervisors, the full deployment of activities and functions, in order to grant quality levels and a smooth delivery of medical services. In coordination with the Medical Team Leader (MTL), evaluating on a regular basis the pertinence and interaction of the hospital in its context, in view of the continuous analysis of the environment • In close collaboration with the medical departments of the hospital, coordinating and supervising the implementation of the healthcare protocols, procedures and standards, assessing the different departments as well as providing technical support for medical doctors, to ensure the quality of medical activities in the health structure and that protocols, security and asepsis rules are followed by the medical personnel. • In collaboration with MTL and Medical Coordinator department, implementing the MSF health policy in order to ensure hospital staff’s safety, providing all prophylactic and preventive measures and emergency plans. • Ensuring, in cooperation with the logistics manager, that all hospital staff has the material and technical logistics support needed in order to ensure the quality of medical activities planned. In collaboration with the pharmacist and/or the logistics manager, ensure efficient use, availability and good storage conditions of drugs and medical equipment for nursing and medical activities. • Ensuring that all administrative procedures regarding the hospital are duly followed; including the proper and efficient use of hospital documents (i.e. discharge paper, transfer paper, etc.) • In close collaboration with MTL and HR Team Leader, planning and supervising the human resources processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, detection of potential, development and communication) of the medical departments/services of the hospital in order to ensure both the appropriate sizing and the amount of knowledge required, and to improve people capabilities, contribution and active participation. • Gathering relevant data and statistics of the different wards in the Hospital, and participating in the monthly reports according to guidelines (i.e. SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc) • Overview and coordination support of all medical activities at the hospital, as well as is in charge of the roster for medical doctors and clinical officers, Lab and mental health supervisors. • In charge of ICU ward round and day to day management of patients in the absence of the MO for ICU/ITFC/PAED according to the leave plan be part of on call team. • In charge of the quality of care follow up at the hospital, like CME and death audit, severe adverse events (SAE) are reported as and when they happen. Quality of care evaluation, the hospital director will also ensure quality of care evaluation documentation lead the discussion and formulation points and its follow up. • Management and follow up of medical referrals to Garissa/ Nairobi, ensure the referral system is appropriately followed & regular feedback is provided to patients, medical team, PMR/MEDCO. • Ensure that cases that cannot be referred (out of referral and/or resettlement criteria) are well respected. Seek the support of PMR/DFC/FC & Medco/DMedco whenever there are also challenges with the process. Address community concerns on those points. • Ensure the use of telemedicine and assists the medical team to access and encourage use of the telemedicine program. • New staff orientation and motivation, motivate staff, prepare objectives for doctors and clinical officers and staff under direct supervision. Evaluate the staff as needed. • Provide special support supervision to mental health and nutrition program supervisors, ensure that quality is maintained, and targeted outcome/indicators are achieved. • EPREP team member: assist in response to emergencies within the project or as required. • Responsible for staff health in the projects. • Responsible for Hospital reports: Sitrep, Quarterly report and Annual report. • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor. |
Requirements |

Education |
· Essential Medical Doctor Diploma. or Paramedical diploma, a degree in management of health facilities would be an asset. |

Experience |
· Essential at least 2 years management experience of health facilities · Working experience with MSF · Experience in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in Public Health, obs and gynae, paediatrics, A, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine or minor surgery |
